Abstract: Let $X$ be an irreducible smooth complex projective curve. Let $mathcalQ(r,d)$ be the Quot scheme parametrizing all coherent subsheaves of ${mathcalO}_X^{oplusr}$ of rank $r$ and degree $-d$. There are natural morphisms $mathcalQ(r,d)longrightarrowext{Sym}^d(X)$ and $ext{Sym}^d(X)longrightarrowext{Pic}^d(X)$. We prove that both these morphisms induce isomorphism of Brauer groups if $dgeq2$. Consequently, the Brauer group of $mathcalQ(r,d)$ is identified with the Brauer group of $ext{Pic}^d(X)$ if $dgeq2$.
