Abstract: Let BbbFq be a finite field with extchar,BbbFq=p and n>0 an integer with extgcd(n,logpq)=1. Let ():BbbFq(tx0,dots,txn1)oBbbFq(tx0,dots,txn1) be the BbbFq-monomorphism defined by txi=txi+1 for 0lei<n1 and txn1=tx0q. For f,ginBbbFq(tx0,dots,txn1)setminusBbbFq, define fcircg=f(g,g,dots,g(n1)). Then (BbbFq(tx0,dots,txn1)setminusBbbFq,,circ) is a monoid whose invertible elements are called global mathcalP-forms. Global mathcalP-forms were first introduced by H. Dobbertin in 2001 with q=2 to study certain type of permutation polynomials of BbbF2m with extgcd(m,n)=1; global mathcalP-forms with q=p for an arbitrary prime p were considered by W. More in 2005. In this paper, we discuss some fundamental questions about global mathcalP-forms, some of which are answered and others remain open.
