Abstract: We consider the equation e2Deltau=(ua(x))(u21) in Omega, fracpartialupartialu=0 on partialOmega, where Omega is a smooth and bounded domain in Rn, u the outer unit normal to paOmega, and a a smooth function satisfying 1<a(x)<1 in ovOmega. We set K, Omega+ and Omega to be respectively the zero-level set of a, {a>0} and {a<0}. Assuming ablaaeq0 on K and ae0 on partialOmega, we show that there exists a sequence ejo0 such that the above equation has a solution uej which converges uniformly to pm1 on the compact sets of Opm as jo+infty.
