Quantum circuits for toric code and X-cube fracton model

From MaRDI portal

Abstract: We introduce a systematic and efficient quantum circuit only composed of Clifford gates to simulate the ground state of surface code model. This method achieves the ground state of toric code in 2L+log(L)+2 time steps. Our algorithm transforms the question into a purely geometric one, which can be easily extended to achieve the ground state of some 3D topological phases i.e. 3D toric code model and X-cube fracton model. We also introduce the gluing method with measurements to enable our method to achieve the ground state of 2D toric code on an arbitrary planar lattice and pave the way to more complicated 3D topological phases.
