Remarks on the inverse Galois problem over function fields
From MaRDI portal
Abstract: Let be a global function field and let be a semisimple algebraic group. Let be a prime that is distinct from the characteristic of and large enough relative to the root datum of . Given a continuous representation , we prove that lifts to a -compatible system of Galois representations with Zariski-dense images under some hypotheses on the image of . The main ingredients are a lifting theorem of Fakhruddin--Khare--Patrikis and work of L. Lafforgue on the Langlands correspondence for function fields. As an application, we prove new instances of the inverse Galois problem for finite groups of Lie type in the function field case.
