Removable singularity of the polyharmonic equation

From MaRDI portal

Abstract: Let x0inOmegasubsetBbbRn, nge2, be a domain and let mge2. We will prove that a solution u of the polyharmonic equation Deltamu=0 in Omegasetminusx0 has a removable singularity at x0 if and only if |Deltaku(x)|=o(|x−x0|2−n)quadforallk=0,1,2,...,m−1 as |x−x0|o0 for nge3 and =o(log(|x−x0|−1))quadforallk=0,1,2,...,m−1 as |x−x0|o0 for n=2. For mge2 we will also prove that u has a removable singularity at x0 if |u(x)|=o(|x−x0|2m−n) as |x−x0|o0 for nge3 and |u(x)|=o(|x−x0|2m−2log(|x−x0|−1)) as |x−x0|o0 for n=2.
