The goal of this tutorial lecture is to familiarize previously uninitiated students in an informal way with some basic concepts of random-matrix theory, with emphasis on those aspects (Wigner and Dyson ensembles, spacing distributions, universality of spectral fluctuations) which are useful in standard applications to quantum dynamical systems, that exhibit complex behaviour (semiclassical chaos).NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 0972.00065].
