From author's summary: We write out the first terms of inner and outer solution expansions in the problem of frictionless indentation of a rigid stamp into the plane boundary of an elastic body. Asymptotic expressions for the force and moments that act on the stamp are found explicitly, and an improved procedure for matching the outer and the inner solution is proposed.
