Existence of optimal solutions to Lagrange problems for ordinary control systems involving fractional Laplace operators (Q828703)

In this work, the author studies partial differential equations (PDE)-constrained linear optimal control problems, where the state equation is given by fractional Dirichlet and Dirichlet-Neumann Laplace operator. Fractional PDE operators find applications in several fields like economics, probability, fluid mechanics, shape optimization. Thus, the study of control problems associated with such fractional operators are of paramount importance. The author proves the existence of optimal controls of related to the aforementioned two fractional operators using the characterization of a weak lower semicontinuity of integral functionals. In Section 5, the author validates the theoretical results with an illustrative example. The paper is well-written and easy to follow, and is certainly quite a good contribution to the field of optimal control of fractional operators. It will be interesting for researchers working in numerical methods to validate the theoretical results of this paper in numerical simulations.
