It is known that a map between two spaces is called finitarily if it is both measure preserving and almost continuous. The aim of the present paper is to show that any two finite state irreducible Markov chains of the same entropy are finitarily Kakutani equivalent in the sense that they are orbit equivalent by an invertible measure-preserving mapping that is almost continuous and monotone in time when restricted to some cylinder set. Following the principles of the previous work of \textit{M. Keane} and \textit{M. Smorodinsky} who found out that any two irreducible Markov chains of equal entropy and period are finitarily isomorphic [Isr. J. Math. 26, 352--371 (1977; Zbl 0357.94012) and Ann. Math. (2) 109, 397--406 (1979; Zbl 0405.28017)] the authors in order to develop further finitarily Kakutani equivalence theory managed to construct for every entropy \(h> 0\) two irreducible Markov chains \(\sigma_1\) and \(\sigma_2\) with equal entropy \(h\) which are finitarily Kakutani equivalent since they formulate classes of simultaneously measure-preserving and topological dynamical systems in which finitarily theory can be applicable.
