Spectral radius of the sampling operator with continuous symbol
From MaRDI portal
Let \(\varphi\) be a bounded measurable function on the torus \(T\), and denote the Fourier coefficients by \(\{a_k\}_{k\in Z}\). Let \(m,n\in N\), and let \(S_\varphi(m,n)\) denote the operator on \(L^2(T)\), whose matrix w.r.t. the basis \(\{e^{ikx}\}_{k\in Z}\) is given by \(\{a_{mi-nj}\}_{i,j\in Z}\). Upper and lower estimates for the spectral radius of \(S_\varphi(m,n)\) are given, and in special cases the exact value is computed in terms of the norms of some finite Toeplitz matrices.
