Abstract: We present some preliminary results on a First Sampling lemma for unbounded kernels, showing that with high probability, the cut norm of an $L^m$-kernel $U$ ($4leqm<infty$) and the cut norm of a random $k$-sample have a difference of order $O(k^{-1/4+gamma/2}(lnk{)}^{1/4})$ provided $mgamma>2$.
