The generalized numerical range of a set of matrices
From MaRDI portal
Abstract: For a given set of matrices , we study the union of the -numerical ranges of the matrices in the set , denoted by . We obtain basic algebraic and topological properties of , and show that there are connections between the geometric properties of and the algebraic properties of and the matrices in . Furthermore, we consider the starshapedness and convexity of the set . In particular, we show that if is the convex hull of two matrices such that and are convex, then the set is star-shaped. We also investigate the extensions of the results to the joint -numerical range of an -tuple of matrices.
