The shift equivalence problem.
From MaRDI portal
The authors give a complete review of the development in solving one of the most important problems in symbolic dynamics: Does strong shift equivalence classify shifts of finite type? for which in 1997 the first two authors gave a counterexample. At the end a list of open problems related to strong shift equivalence is stated.
