Vector fields with a non-degenerate source
From MaRDI portal
Abstract: We discuss the solution theory of operators of the form , acting on smooth sections of a vector bundle with connection over a manifold , where is a vector field having a critical point with positive linearization at some point . As an operator on a suitable space of smooth sections , it fulfills a Fredholm alternative, and the same is true for the adjoint operator. Furthermore, we show that the solutions depend smoothly on the data , and .
On a finite dimensional manifold \(M\) one considers a smooth vector field \(X\) and a vector bundle for which a connection \(\nabla\) and an endomorphism field \(A\) are given. Under a special property of \(X\), the author proves a Fredholm alternative for the operator \(\nabla_X+A\). A result regarding the eigenvalues is also established.
