Given the source and load impedances and a preassigned transducer power- gain characteristic, the necessary and sufficient conditions are given for the existence of a lossless reciprocal or a nonreciprocal equalizer which, when operating between the two given impedances, yields the desired transducer power-gain characteristic. It is shown that the realization of a broadband matching network can be accomplished by means of the driving-point synthesis using either a reciprocal or a nonreciprocal network.
