Classical B-splines are curves generated over the space spanned by the polynomial \(\{1,t,t^2,\ldots,t^n\}\). This curves do not represents exactly conics, spiral or others kind of curves. Conics are well represented by NURBS (non uniform rational B-spline) but rational polynomial have not easy-to-compute derivatives and integrals. For this reason generalized B-splines that extend the polynomial bases with transcendental functions are introduced. Previous research consider the space spanned by \(\{\sin t,\cos t,1,t,t^2,\ldots,t^{n-2}\}\) or \(\{\sinh t,\cosh t,1,t,t^2,\ldots,t^{n-2}\}\) or other combination of polynomial and transcendental functions. In this paper the authors consider the space spanned by four (not specified) functions and polynomials \(\{\alpha(t),\beta(t),\xi(t),\eta(t),1,t,t^2,\ldots,t^{n-4}\}\) and describe an unified approach to construct the generalized non-uniform B-splines. Some numerical tests using this generalized B-spline are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
