Let \(X\) be a quasi projective smooth variety over a field \(k\subset \mathbb{C}\) and \(L\subset X\) be a line bundle. Let \(W(X;L)\) be the generalized Witt group as defined by \textit{P. Balmer} [in: Handbook of \(K\)-theory. Vol. 1 and 2. Berlin: Springer. 539--579 (2005; Zbl 1115.19004)]. Moreover, let \(G\) be a compact connected Lie group and \(T\subset G\) be a maximal torus. The author proves the following Theorem. Let \(k\) be an algebraic closed subfield of \(\mathbb{C}\) and \(G\) be a compact connected simple Lie group, then the Atiyah-Hirzebruch spectral sequence converging to the real topological \(K\)-theory \(KO^*(G/T)\) collapses at the \(E_3\)-term. If \(G\) is simply connected, then there is an isomorphism \[ W^*(G_k)\cong H^*(G/T;Sq^2)\cong \Lambda(z_1,\dots ,z_s), \text{ with } \deg(z_i)\text{ odd,} \] where \(\Lambda(z_1,\dots ,z_s)\) is the \(\mathbb{Z}/2\)-exterior algebra generated by \(z_1,\dots , z_s\). For \(G=SO(n)\), there is an isomorphism \[ W^*(G_k)\cong H^*(G/T;Sq^2)\otimes\Lambda(x_0)\cong \Lambda(x_0,z_1,\dots ,z_s),\text{ with } \deg(x_0)=0. \] Moreover, in case of simple Lie groups there are isomorphisms \[ W^*(G_k)\cong \begin{cases} E(GP)^{*,*'}_4\cong H(H^*(G;Sq^2);d_3)& \text{ for } G=E_6,E_7, E_8\\ E(GP)^{*,*'}_3\cong H^*(G;Sq^2)& \text{ for other simple Lie groups}. \end{cases} \] Where \(E(GP)^{*,*'}_*\) denotes the Gille-Pardon spectral sequence and \(G_k\) is the split reductive group corresponding to \(G\).
