In this interesting paper, the authors outline their work on recursive towers of smooth projective absolutely irreducible algebraic curves over finite fields where irreducible correspondences and some another features of the towers are defined by functional equations. Producing of good recursive towers is treated by graph theory. This is then applied to study the towers and their asymptotic parameters.
