This article is a survey of topics related to the existence of homeomorphisms between potentially pathological spaces and Euclidean spaces. The topics covered include: wild and tame embeddings, cellular spaces, manifold factors, decomposition spaces, and questions about the existence of geometric structures for spaces that are topologically standard but arrived at by a construction that has the potential for the creation of non standard spaces. One case of this last is the question of the existence of geometrically nice transformations. For example in dimension two one has the conformal mapping theorem that produces a geometrically nice equivalence. The paper considers how one might extend this to higher dimensions. For a graduate student or non specialist interested in an overview of questions of parameterization this would be an excellent starting point.
