Let \(Q\) be a convex body in \(\mathbb R^n\) (\(Q\) is a convex compact set with interior points). Two distinct faces of \(Q\) are called opposite if they are contained in two parallel supporting hyperplanes. \(Q\) is called a quasisimplex if for every parallel projection of \(Q\) to any hyperplane, the projection of any two opposite faces of \(Q\) is not contained strictly inside the projection of the whole \(Q\). For dimension \(n=2\), the quasisimplices are always triangles. The author gives the following characterization of quasisimplices for \(n=3\): A convex body \(Q\) in \(\mathbb R^3\) is a quasisimplex if and only if \(Q\) is a convex cone or a frustum of a trihedral pyramid or a triangular prism (the bases of the frustum and of the prism may be nonparallel).
