Consider an Abel differential equation of the form \((*)\) \(dz/dt = \alpha (t) z^3 + \beta (t)z^2,\) where \(\alpha\) and \(\beta\) are integrable on \([0,\omega]\). The author derives conditions that are necessary and sufficient for the solution \(z=0\) to \((*)\) to have multiplicity \(k,\) \(2 \leq k \leq 9\). This result can be used to improve known estimates on the multiplicity of \(z=0\) and to prove a conjecture by Ye Yanqian.
