In a previous paper [Ann. Inst. Fourier 46, 1385--1442 (1996; Zbl 0860.53004)], the author constructed simply-periodic minimal surfaces by desingularization of a set of vertical planes using the techniques developed by \textit{N. Kapouleas} [Ann. Math. (2) 131, 239--330 (1990; Zbl 0699.53007)]. In this work, the Weierstrass representation of these surfaces is obtained, thus getting a new proof of their existence. In addition, convergence of the surfaces to the set of planes, embeddedness in certain cases, and smooth dependence on parameters is obtained. In the proof, the theory of Riemann surfaces is used. First meromorphic data are selected on certain Riemann surfaces, as potential Weierstrass representations. It only remains to solve the period problem, which is done by means of the implicit function theorem.
