Let \(D\) be a simply connected bounded domain in \({\mathbb C}\) containing 0 with sufficiently smooth boundary \(\Gamma\) (condition \(0\in D\) is not present in the article, but it is necessary for further reasonings). The authors obtain a solution of the following singular functional equation \[ z^n\varphi(z)- \alpha(z)\overline{\varphi(\overline{\beta(z)})} =f(z),\quad z\in D, \tag{1} \] where \(n\in{\mathbb N}\) is the order of singularity, \(\alpha(z)\), \(\beta(z)\) and \(f(z)\) are given analytic functions on \(D\). The problem is to find an analytic on \(D\) function \(\varphi(z)\) satisfying (1). The authors assume that \(\alpha\), \(\beta\), \(f\) and \(\varphi\) satisfy the Hölder condition in \(\overline{D}\) and \[ \overline{\beta(z)}\in D\quad\text{for }z\in\overline{D}, \] \[ \beta(0)=0,\quad\alpha(0)\not=0. \] The Hilbert boundary problem: \[ z^n\varphi(z)- \alpha(z)\overline{\varphi(\overline{\beta(z)})} =\omega(z)+g(z),\quad z\in\Gamma, \] where \(\varphi(z)\) and \(\omega(z)\) are unknown functions analytic in \(D\) and \({\mathbb C}\setminus\overline{D}\) respectively and \(g(z)\) is a given function on \(\Gamma\), is also investigated. The obtained results are applied to solve a nonlocal boundary value problem for the Laplace equation. This problem is to find twice continuously differentiable solutions of the Laplace equation \[ {\partial^2u\over{\partial x^2}}+{\partial^2u\over{\partial y^2}}=0,\quad |z|<1, z=x+iy \] satisfying the boundary condition \[ u(z)-\alpha(z)u(\overline{\beta(z)}) =g(z),\quad |z|=1, \] where \(\alpha(z)\), \(g(z)\) are given real-valued functions on \(\Gamma\), \(\beta(z)\) is analytic in \(|z|<1\) and satisfies the conditions: \(|\beta(z)|<1\) for \(|z|\leq 1\), \(\beta(0)=0\).
