In [\textit{U. B. Singh} and \textit{S. N. Singh}, J. Indian Math. Soc. 66, 105--111 (1999)] a complicated expansion of the form \[ \prod_{j=1}^k F_j=\sum_{n=0}^\infty A_n^k (-1)^{kn}q^{kn(n-1)/2}\prod_{j=1}^k \left\{{\lambda_j^n\over(b\lambda_j;q)_n}\,F_{j,n}\right\} \] for given \(k\in\mathbb N\) was introduced. Here \(F_j\) and \(F_{j,n}\) are the basic hypergeometric series \[ \begin{aligned} F_j&:={_3\Phi_2}\left[{ab,\,bc,\,bd;\,q; \,\lambda_j/b\atop b\lambda_j,\,abcd}\right]\\ F_{j,n}&:={_3\Phi_2}\left[{abq^n,\,bc'q^n,\,bd'q^n; \,q;\,\lambda_jb\atop b\lambda_jq^n,\,abc'd'q^{2n}}\right], \end{aligned} \] and the coefficients \(A_n^k\) are given in terms of \(_4\Phi_3\)'s. Since \[ _3\Phi_2\left[{a,\,b,\,c;{de\over abc}\atop d,\,e}\right]\biggl/ {_3\Phi_2} \left[{aq,\,b,\,c;{de\over abc}\atop dq,\,e}\right] \] has a known continued fraction expansion, which gives a continued fraction expansion \(K_j\) for \(F_j\) by setting \(a=1\), the authors obtain a curious expansion of \(\prod_{j=1}^k K_j\).
