In [Mod. Phys. Lett. A 10, No. 19, 1409--1418 (1995; Zbl 1022.81574)], \textit{R. M. Kashaev} introduced a complex-valued knot invariant depending on an integer \(N\geq2\) by using the quantum dilogarithm. Later he conjectured that if a knot is hyperbolic, his invariant grows exponentially with growth rate the hyperbolic volume of the knot complement [\textit{R. M. Kashaev}, Lett. Math. Phys. 39, No. 3, 269--275 (1997; Zbl 0876.57007)]. Note that \textit{J. Murakami} and the reviewer proved that Kashaev's invariant coincides with the \(N\)-colored Jones polynomial evaluated at the \(N\)-th root of unity [Acta Math. 186, No. 1, 85--104 (2001; Zbl 0983.57009)]. In the paper under review, the author shows that for the knot \(5_2\) in the Alexander-Briggs table, the conjecture above is true. It is also shown that in the asymptotic expansion of the Kashaev invariant, we have not only the hyperbolic volume but also the (\(SO(3)\)-) Chern-Simons invariant. The proof contains hard calculation involving the Poisson summation formula and the saddle point method. | |||

The proof contains hard calculation involving the Poisson summation formula and the saddle point method.
