It is given an example of a pair of sets of positive reach, violating a condition assuring the intersection of these sets to have positive reach for almost all translations of one of these sets. The condition in question ensures the validity of a translative formula recently proved by the author and \textit{M. Zähle} [ibid. 57, 259-283 (1995; Zbl 0844.53050)].
