An open finite-to-one proper surjective map \(f: M\to Y\), Y a metric space is called a pseudo-submersion if it is not a homeomorphism. In this paper, the authors extend Newman's theorem to pseudo-submersion from finite group actions in cohomology version. In case the space M is a Riemannian manifold the Newman diameter of M is defined and estimated in terms of upper bounds of sectional curvature and supremum of radius of convexity of M.
