This is the English translation of the original German edition (1975; Zbl 0324.62075). The 26 tables are reprinted unchanged and four new tables have been incorporated as Part IV, Supplement: Table 27: Sample size requirements for the \(T^ 2\)-test of MANOVA in one-way classifications: tables of \textit{J. Läuter}; Table 28: Critical values for simultaneous and sequential Bonferroni z-tests: tables of \textit{G. A. Lienert, O. Ludwig}, and \textit{K. Rockenfeller}; Table 29: Upper percentage points of the Bonferroni t-statistic: tables of \textit{B. J. R. Bailey}; Table 30: Upper percentage points of statistics for testing covariance matrices: tables of \textit{J. C. Lee, T. C. Chang}, and \textit{P. R. Krishnaiah}; Final remarks: Univariate test distributions as a special case of their multivariate analogues. The instructions for the tables are all organized in the same way, they are kept short and without examples, so the reader should use the author's textbook in two volumes, which will appear this year.
