An isoparametric triple system was defined by the authors in [Tôhoku Math. J., II. Ser. 35, 187-224 (1983; Zbl 0507.53038)]. In this paper they continue their study and the main result is an explicit classification of the isoparametric triple systems of ''algebra type'', which are in one-to-one correspondence with isoparametric hypersurfaces in spheres satisfying the condition (A), but not necessarily the additional condition (B) of \textit{H. Ozeki} and \textit{M. Takeuchi} [Tôhoku Math. J., II. Ser. 27, 515-559 (1975; Zbl 0359.53011)]. A Euclidean space \((V,< , >)\) is called an isoparametric triple system if V is a triple system with product \(\{\)...\(\}\) satisfying the conditions: \(\{\) xy\(z\}\) is symmetric in all arguments, \[ <\{xyz\},w>=<z,\{xyw\}>,\quad<\{xxx\},\{xxx\}>- 9<x,x><\{xxx\},x>+18<x,x>^ 3=0, \] trace \(T(x,y)=2(3+2m_ 1+m_ 2)<x,y>\), and dim V\(=2(m_ 1+m_ 2+1)\) for some integers \(m_ 1,m_ 2>0\), where \(T(x,y)z:=\{xyz\}\). There exists a pair of orthogonal minimal tripotents which induces the Peirce decomposition of V: \(V=V_{11}\oplus V_{10}\oplus V^+_{12}\oplus V^-_{12}\oplus V_{22}\oplus V_{20}\). The isoparametric triple system is said to be of algebra type if V has a Peirce decomposition with \(V_{10}=0\), or \(V_{20}=0\) equivalently. The authors prove that \(m_ 1\geq m_ 2\) for an isoparametric triple of algebra type and explicitly determine the isomorphic classes of isoparametric triples corresponding to the cases \(m_ 1>m_ 2+1\), \(m_ 1=m_ 2+1\), \(m_ 1=m_ 2\). For example, the isoparametric triple V is of algebra type iff V is the dual of an isoparametric triple of FKM-type and \(m_ 2=1,3\) or 7 in the case \(m_ 1>m_ 2+1\). The FKM-triples correspond to the hypersurfaces studied by \textit{D. Ferus, H. Karcher} and \textit{H.-F. Münzner} [Math. Z. 177, 479-502 (1981; Zbl 0443.53037)]. Among many interesting results, the authors give the classification of isomorphic classes of the isoparametric triples which are of algebra type relative to each pair of orthogonal tripotents.
