The book treats Inventory and Supply chain management. In the first part an overview the literature and the models is given. Then an example from industry is provided. After this a theoretical model consisting of two consecutive delivery modes (one slow, cheap one and one fast, expensive one) is analysed using dynamic programming. This model is then extended to a model with 2 modes and fixed costs. Afterwards this is further widened to 3 modes (slow, medium and fast delivery). After these models a further approach consisting of multiperiod quantity-flexibility contracts is discussed. And a model with purchase contract management: fixed exercise cost is treated. Both models are based on articles published (at least partly) by the authors. In the last chapter of the book a model stated as a 2-player game is discussed. All in all the book provides a State-of-the-art introduction and overview to the topic. The topic itself is in an early stage of development, hence a lot of deeper insights are possible and future research may take place.
