Eine Quadratwurzel \(\sqrt{a}\) heißt reduziert, wenn \(a\) eine quadratfreie ganz-rationale Zahl ist. Es wird gezeigt, daß die Menge der reduzierten Quadratwurzeln linear unabhängig über \(\mathbb{Q}\) ist. Da das Ergebnis bekannt ist, geht es dem Autor um die Methode der Herleitung, eine Anwendung des Hauptsatzes der Galoistheorie.
