The paper discusses in three paragraphs where geometry and geodesy have met. Paragraph one brings up the metrical properties of a two-axes and three-axes ellipsoid representing globally the earth. In contrast paragraph two comments on the computation of geodetic triangles on spherical and ellipsoidal surfaces. Finally paragraph three critically reviews direction measurements from topographic points to artificial earth satellites emphasizing the first geometric idea by Johann Albert Euler, son of Leonhard Euler.
