Let \({\mathcal B}\) be a semi-simple unital commutative Banach algebra of functions holomorphic in \(\mathbb D\) and continuous up to the boundary \(\mathbb T\) under the pointwise operations which is continuously imbedded in the disc algebra. Denote by \(N_{\mathcal B}\) the supremum of all \(n\) so that \(f^{(n)}\) is continuously differentiable on \(\overline{\mathbb D}\) for all \(f\in{\mathcal B}\). \({\mathcal B}\) is said to satisfy the analytic Ditkin condition if, for every \(z_0\in\mathbb T\) and each function \(f\in{\mathcal B}\) with \(f^{(k)}(z_0)=0\), \(0\leq k\leq N_{\mathcal B}\), there exists a sequence \(\{\tau_n\}\subset{\mathcal B}\) such that \(\tau_n(z_0)=0\) for all \(n\geq 0\), and \(\lim_{n\to\infty}\|(1-\tau_n)f\|_{\mathcal B}=0\). Given a closed ideal \(I\subset{\mathcal B}\), let \(U_I\) be the inner factor of \(I\), and \(h^k(I)=\{z\in\overline{\mathbb D}:f(z)=\dots= f^{(k)}(z)=0\), \(f\in I\}\) for any \(0\leq k\leq N_{\mathcal B}\). The ideal \(I\) is said to be standard if it coincides with the set of all \(f\in{\mathcal B}\) such that \(U_I|f\) and \(f^{(k)}=0\) on \(h^k(I)\cap\mathbb T\) for all \(0\leq k\leq N_{\mathcal B}\). Let \({\mathcal B}\) satisfy the following three conditions: (H1) Polynomials are dense in \({\mathcal B}\); (H2) the spectral radius of the identity is 1; and (H3) there is a \(k\geq 0\) and \(C>0\) so that \(|1-|\lambda||^k\|f\|_{\mathcal B}\leq C\|(z-\lambda)f\|_{\mathcal B}\) for every \(f\in{\mathcal B}\) and \(|\lambda|<1\). It is shown that if \({\mathcal B}\) satisfies also the analytic Ditkin condition, then all closed ideals \(I\subset{\mathcal B}\) with countable hulls \(h(I)=\bigcup_{f\in I}\{z\in\overline{\mathbb D}: f(z)=0\}\) are standard. Applications to particular Banach algebras are given. Note: Similar results were announced earlier by \textit{V. M. Fayvishevskii} [Funct. Anal. Appl. 8, 268--269 (1974); translation from Funkts. Anal. Prilozh. 8, No.~3, 85--86 (1974; Zbl 0296.46055)].
