Nakai's conjecture states for a geometric local ring R over a field k of characteristic zero that regularity is equivalent to the fact that the k- algebra of high order derivations of R/k is generated over R by \(Der^ 1_ k(R)\), the ordinary derivations of order 1. Only few cases are known in which this has been proved. The author studies two cases of invariant subrings of regular rings under the action of a finite group of automorphisms: (1) Let \(A=k[x_ 1,...,x_ n]\) be a polynomial ring, G a finite subgroup of GL(n,k), acting in the usual way on A, \(A^ G\) the invariant subring of A under G, \({\mathfrak m}=(x_ 1,...,x_ n)\cap A^ G\), then Nakai's conjecture is true for \(R=(A^ G)_{{\mathfrak m}}\). (2) If (R,\({\mathfrak m})\) is a regular local ring, G a finite subgroup of Aut(R), inducing the identity on R/\({\mathfrak m}\), and an additional condition on \(Der^ 1(R)\) is satisfied, then Nakai's conjecture is true for \(R^ G\).
