Oscillation criteria for second-order nonlinear differential equations with damped term (Q1125498): Difference between revisions

The authors deal with oscillatory properties of the nonlinear damped equation \[ [a(t)y']'+p(t)y'+q(t)f(y)=0,\quad t\in [t_0,\infty), \] with \(a(t)>0\), the functions \(p,q\) are allowed to change sign in \([t_0,\infty)\) and the nonlinearity \(f\) satisfies \(yf(y)>0\) for \(y\neq 0\) and \(f'(y)\geq \mu>0\). Oscillation criteria given in the paper are proved using the generalized Riccati substitution established by \textit{Y. H. Yu} [Math. Nachr. 153, 137-143 (1991; Zbl 0795.34025)] combined with the so-called \(H\)-function averaging technique introduced by \textit{Ch. G. Philos} [Arch. Math. 53, 482-492 (1989; Zbl 0661.34030)].
