The authors provide the first known examples (in fact, an infinite family of examples in André planes) of small minimal blocking sets in non-Desarguesian translation planes which are not of Rédei type. Here a blocking set in a plane of order \(q\) is called small if it has size \(<3(q+1)/2\), and it is of Rédei type if it has size \(q+N\) and contains \(N\) collinear points.
