It is well known that the following Schur type inequalities hold: \(\|P\|_p\leq C_pn\|xP\|_p\) and \(\|P\|_p\leq C'_pn^2\|(1-x)P\|_p\) for any algebraic polynomial \(P\) of degree at most \(n\in\mathbb N\), with some absolute constants \(C_p\) and \(C_p'\), where \(\|\cdot\|_p\) is the \(L_p\)-norm on the interval \([-1,1]\) \((1\leq p<\infty)\). This paper is a first attempt to give numerical values for \(C_p\) and \(C_p'\). The author proves that in the above inequalities one can put \(C_p=6\) and \(C_p'= 6.3\).
