The paper is concerned with linear parabolic systems of the form \[ u_t=\sum^n_{j,k=1}A_{jk}(x,t)u_{jk} \] where \(u\) is an \(m\)-vector and the \(A_{jk}\) are \(m\times m\) matrices. The system is considered in \(\mathbb{R}^n\times (0,T)\) or \(\Omega\times (0,T)\) with \(\Omega\) bounded and is assumed to be parabolic in the sense of Petrovskij. The authors then derive necessary and sufficient condition for the validity of a maximum norm condition.
