There are various bounds for the constant \(W_ p(n)\) in the inequality \(E_{n-1}(f)\leq W_ p(n) \omega_ n(f,1/n)_ p\), \(0<p\leq\infty\), where \(E_{n-1}(f)= \inf\{\| f-P_{n-1}\|_ p\), \(P_{n-1}\) polynomials of degree \(\leq n-1\}\) and \(\omega_ n\) is the integral \((L^ p(I))\) modulus of continuity. Here, the authors show that \(W_ 1(n)\leq 6.4\) and \(W_ p(n)\leq 9\) for \(1\leq p<\infty\), more precisely, that for \(f\in L^ p(I)\) and \(P_{n-1}\) such that \(\int_ 0^{i/n} [f(t)- P_{n-1}(t)]dt=0\), \(i=1,\dots,n\), \[ \widetilde{W}_ p(n)= \sup\{\| f-P_{n-1}\|_ p/ \omega_ n (f,1/n)_ p\}\leq 4(1+ 1/e)+ O(1/\ln n). \]
