A model for 2-phase immiscible flow in a porous medium is treated, numerical approximations by characteristic finite difference methods being studied. The mathematical model is a system of nonlinear partial differential equations with an expanding (a priori known) moving boundary. An optimal error estimate in the sense of the \(l_ 2\) norm is deduced. It is claimed that implementation was successful, although no numerical data are presented.
