Es seien \(a, b, c\) nicht verschwindende reelle Zahlen. Es sind zwei rationale ganze Zaheln \(x, y\) in den Grenzen \(M<y<N\) so zu bestimmen, daß der Betrag von \(ax+by+c\) Minimum wird. Der Verf. entwickelt einen auf geometirischen Vorstellungen beruhenden Algorithmus zur numerischen Berechnung von \(x\) und \(y\) und führt ihn an dem Beispiel \(a=\pi, b=-e, c=-1\) durch.
