Es seien \(x\) irgendeine positive Zahl, \(p\) und \(q\) zwei reelle Zahlen: \(p>q\), dann ist \[ \frac{x^p-1}p>\frac{x^q-1}q. \] Daraus folgt: \[ \begin{aligned} &mx^{m-1}(x-1)>x^m-1>m(x-1) \quad \text{für} \quad m<0 \quad \text{und} \quad m>1, \\ &mx^{m-1}(x-1)<x^m-1<m(x-1) \quad \text{für} \quad 0<m<1. \end{aligned} \] Einige Anwendungen dieser Ungleichungen.
