    Untersuchung der Funktion: \[ P(x) \equiv 1+ \frac x1 + \frac{x^2}{2!} + \dots . \] Besitzt \(P(x)\) eine Periode, so ist sie rein imaginär. Die Funktionen \[ P_1(x) \equiv \frac x1 - \frac{x^3}{3!} + \frac{x^5}{5!} - \cdots, \quad P_2(x) \equiv = 1- \frac{x^2}{2!} + \frac{x^4}{4!} - \cdots \] und ihre Beziehungenn zu \(P(x)\). Alle drei Funktionen sind einfach periodisch, und für reelle Werte von \(x\) ist \(P_1(x) = \sin x\), \(P_2(x) = \cos x\). Werte von \(e^z\), \(\sin z\), \(\cos z\) für reelle und imaginäre Werte des Argumentes; die drei Funktionen sind ganze transzendente Funktionen.
