Die Construction beruht auf dem Umstande, dass der Mittelpunkt eines Kegelschnittes gleichzeitig Mittelpunkt seines Fusspunktkreises (in Bezug auf einen Brennpunkt) ist, welcher letztere als Osculationskreis der gegebenen Fusspunktcurve auftritt, wenn jener Kegelschnitt durch die ursprüngliche Curve ersetzt wird.
