Ein materieller Punkt bewegt sich auf der Kugelfläche \(x^2+y^2+z^2=1\) unter der Einwirkung von Kräften, welche ein Potential \[ U = ax^2 + by^2 + cz^2 - k\{(a-b)^2x^2y^2 + (a-c)^2x^2z^2 + (b-c)^2y^2z^2\} \] haben: die Bewegung ist zu bestimmen. Die Lösung dieses Problems führt auf Rosenhain'sche Functionen, wie für den Fall \(k=0\) schon Hr. C. Neumann (J. für Math. LVI. 1859) gezeigt hatte.
