Massieu's charakteristische Function wird in der Form dargestellt: \[ H' =-T.\left[\int U. d\left (\frac 1T\right ) +A\int V. d\left (\frac PT\right ) +A'\int J. d\left (\frac ET\right )\right ], \] deren Eigentümlichkeit die ist, dass jedes Glied als Function einer einzigen Veränderlichen erscheint.
