Die angeführte Gleichung wird in die Form \(y^n - ay -a\) gebracht. Eine reelle Wurzel lässt sich dann durch successive Annäherung mittels der Formel \[ y_{r+1} = \root n \of {ay_r +a} \] bestimmen. Die Rechnung lässt sich bequem mit Hülfe der Gauss'schen Logarithmen ausführen.
