Die Formeln für \(\cos (a\pm b)\) werden dadurch hergeleitet, dass zunächst \(\cos (a + b) + \cos (a-b)\) durch geometrische und trigonometrische Sätze gefunden wird, daraus wird dann durch Substitution ein Ausdruck für \(- \cos (a + b) + \cos ( a - b)\) abgeleitet. Dann ergeben sich die oben genannten Formeln sehr leicht.
