    Aus den einfachsten Sätzen über quadratische Reste und Nichtreste werden mancherlei Formeln hergeleitet, wie z. B. dass für 13, wo die Reste 1, 3, 4, 9, 10, 12, die Nichtreste 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11 sind, die Gleichungen statthaben \(2^{2}+3^{2}=13\); \(8^{2}+12^{2}=1^{2}+3^{2}+4^{2}+5^{2}+6^{2}+11^{2}\). Allgemeine Formeln in dieser Beziehung werden nicht gegeben. Dann folgt eine Reihe von Formeln, die sich auf die Summirung der grössten ganzen Zahlen irrationaler Ausdrücke beziehen, z. B. \(\sum^{\mu=\frac{p-5}{4}}_{\mu=1} E\sqrt{\mu p}= \frac{(p-1)(p-5)}{12}; \sum^{p-1}_{\frac {p-1} {4}} E\sqrt{\mu p}=\frac{(p-1)(7p+1)}{12}; \sum^{p-1}_{1} E\sqrt{\mu p}=\frac{(p-1)(2p-1)}{9}.\)
